- "All available units head down to the lowest cruiser in our orbit. We need a distraction."
- — Obi-Wan Kenobi
Mission 2 is the second mission of Act I. Shortly after the victory on Tatooine, the two brothers are rewarded for their courage and determination. But the celebrations do not last for long, as the CIS begins an invasion of Coruscant.
Synopsis
Master Ferroda’s battalion has been called back from the Outer Rim Sieges to help bolster the defenses of the capital planet, Coruscant. There, the Supreme Chancellor himself recognizes X1 and X2 for their valor throughout the Clone Wars, and particularly for their recent heroism on Tatooine. During the medal ceremony, the droid army invades, kicking off the Battle of Coruscant seen in Episode III and Clone Wars Vol. II.
Objectives
Mission Intro - Scripted Cutscene
Chancellor Palpatine is rewarding X1 and X2 for their heroic efforts in defending Tatooine. X1, his arrogance clearly visible, pleases the Chancellor. An alarm sounds off in the distance, a sign that the Droid Army has begun an attack on the capital. Royal Guards usher Palpatine to safety.
Destroy the Shield Generator
The CIS has captured the senate apartment district. The clone army must liberate the sector to ensure the safety of the VIPs housed in the Central Tower. The droids have taken control of the district’s anti-air defenses, preventing the Republic forces from making a landing too close to the apartment building. An LAAT Gunship drops X2 and his men off at the far end of the district, near the North Tower, to begin their assault. The droids have begun setting up force fields to cordon off sections of the city in an attempt to divide and conquer the clone forces on the ground. The droids can pass through these shields freely, but the clones cannot. X2 must destroy the shield generator so that his troops can advance. Meanwhile X1 joins the battle in space, keeping in radio contact with X2. Taking a ramp up and around the force field, X2 uses explosive weapons to destroy its power generator. With the shield generator down, X1's ARC-170 swoops in and bombards the second one, clearing a path for the troops.
Support the Troops at Sector B
Opposite the Outlander Club there is a small command station which controls many of the district’s defenses, including the Ion Cannon. With the clone army in the sector divided, the droids have overrun this station. It’s up to X2 and his troops to take it back. Along the way from the North Tower to the Outlander Club X2 and his troops can use mobile barricades and rubble for cover, or take the high ground moving forward. A Clone Hover Tank is available as well. Droid snipers and soldiers hold some of the rooftops, and turrets are positioned to make the march toward the club more difficult. Opposite the club, the droids hold the high ground on a small command station fortified with turrets. X2 must wipe out the droids on the command station. Once the sector is clear, X1 launches an attack on a CIS Frigate which is bombarding the area.
Destroy the Droid Gunships
When X2 gets close to the Anti-Air guns, three droid gunships rise up from under the edge of the city and turn their attention towards X2 and his squad.
Fight towards the South Tower
With the Ion Cannon under Republic control and the CIS Frigate destroyed, the north side of the sector is now secure. Master Ferroda orders the troops to push on and retake the South Tower Landing Zone, which will reclaim the district for the Republic. There X2 will find starfighters that can be used to join his brother in the space battle raging overhead. There are two routes to the South Tower:
- Frontal Assault: The player takes the underpass, or the routes to either side of the Senate Apartments, and goes straight for the South Tower gate. If they go through the underpass, they can use a tank. They will encounter a Spider Droid in the open area in front of the South Tower when they arrive.
- Back Door: The player goes around the Senate Apartments and along a narrow walkway that leads to the back of the South Tower. The player will meet fierce infantry resistance along the walkway, as well as Droid Gunships strafing the area.
Take out the approaching AATs
Two AATs are defending the overpass. X2 can use the Clone Hover Tank to take them out. Objective expires based on proximity.
Support the Jedi
Another Spider Droid, like the one on Tatooine, has been deployed in a bid to gain ground supremacy for the CIS. Mace Windu and Yoda appear from underneath the Senate Apartments and begin fighting the Spider Droid. Objective expires based on proximity.
Pilot a Starfighter
With the South Tower liberated, the ground battle is won. X2 is instructed to get into a starfighter and take the battle to the skies.
Destroy the Anti-Air Guns
The droid AA turrets placed around the rooftops are a threat to the Republic's starfighters. X2 and his men have the advantage of being underneath them. If they can destroy the turrets they will ensure air superiority for the Republic and secure the district once and for all.
Destroy the Spider Droids
Several Spider Droids have been deployed on the ground and are using their top-mounted laser emplacement to shoot down starfighters, including X2's. They need to be destroyed so that the Republic's pilots can have a fighting chance in the space battle.
Board the CIS Cruiser
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have entered the space battle. Obi-Wan requests a distraction to help him and his Padawan reach Grievous’ ship. Master Ferroda orders X1 and X2 to board the CIS Cruiser and jam the droid communications from the bridge. X1 remarks that they should be the ones going after the Chancellor and that Master Ferroda has limited combat experience. X2 however shows trust in the Master's judgement.
Take out the exterior gun turrets on the CIS Cruiser
On the way to the CIS Cruiser, a Clone Trooper radios in and mentions that the exterior turrets are making it difficult to enter. Destroying them will allow more troops to enter the hangar.
Regroup with X1
X2 advances to the walkway room where X1 and his men are pinned down on their way to the bridge. X1 tells X2 that there is going to be a change in plans. Rather than jam the droid’s communications, they’re going to destroy the entire cruiser. X1 tells X2 to go down the side path to the reactor room while he and his men make a push for the reactor shield controls on the bridge. X2 is unable to move to the bridge himself, as the corridor has been shielded by the droids.
Destroy the Turret Controls
The CIS Cruiser is doing heavy damage to the Republic fleet with its main guns. X1, who is up ahead on the cruiser, tells X2 to get to the gunroom and disable the turbolasers. Objective expires based on proximity.
Fight to the Reactor Room
Following X1’s instructions, X2 fights his way to the reactor room on the lower level. Once they enter, X1 comes over the radio to tell X2 that his team has made it to the bridge. He’s dropping the shield on the reactor. Suddenly, two Droidekas roll in and the reactor rooms doors are sealed shut. X2 is trapped.
Destroy the Droidekas
The Droidekas are trying to stop X2 from blowing up the reactor core. They can only be damaged by blaster weapons when their shields run out of energy or when they are rolling. Objective expires once the reactor is destroyed.
Destroy the Reactor Core
X1 tells X2 to expect the shield around the reactor to drop. After a brief delay it does, allowing X2 to use whatever weapons he has at his disposal to start a chain reaction in the reactor that will destroy the ship.
Escape from the Cruiser in an Escape Pod
X2 has started a chain reaction that is going to destroy the entire CIS Cruiser. He and all the other clones must reach the escape pods to get off the ship before it explodes. Over the radio, X1 helps guide X2 to the escape pods. The door leading to the bridge has been unlocked. Moving forward, X2 sees a Magnaguard killing a Clone Trooper before the doors close and lock. X2 can go left or right to reach an escape pod bank.
Mission Outro - Scripted Event
Camera shows X2's escape pod launching into space, with the CIS Cruiser getting destroyed behind him. Over the radio Master Ferroda asks who gave the order to destroy the ship. X1 says that he did, to ensure the success of Master Kenobi’s mission. Master Ferroda chastises him for his recklessness, but congratulates you on your success. The destruction of the ship did indeed have the desired effect. Anakin and Obi-Wan are on their way to rescue the Chancellor.
Trivia
- General Grievous can be seen climbing the Senate Apartments, like in the Clone Wars (2003) series. He is not a boss battle like in the PSP and DS versions.
- Originally, there were CIS ships on the South Tower, like Vulture Droids and Tri-Fighters. These were later changed to the Republic Starfighter.
- The laser color of the Anti-Air turret changed from blue to green in late builds of the game. However, the CIS-controlled ones still have the old color.

Radio: We now return to Republic Life on HNN.Twi' lek Senator: I regret to report that a state of war has fallen on the Republic. As a Senator I can no longer be blinded to the fact that the Galactic Senate is corrupt and ineffective. I have become increasingly concerned about Chancellor Palpatine’s emergency powers. He seems determined to consolidate executive power while the Senate struggles to deal with the Separatists. Our greatest threat may be from within the Republic itself.
Master Ferroda: Master Kenobi, how goes it with your padawan Anakin Skywalker?
Obi-Wan Kenobi:Anakin has great potential but he needs more guidance than I anticipated.
Master Ferroda: I know the feeling after commanding these elite clone troopers.
Obi-Wan Kenobi:I didn’t realize clones needed guidance.
Master Ferroda: Most don’t but these two seem different. One is very honorable but the other, X1 seems to have a lot of anger in him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi:(smirks) Maybe they’re clones of Anakin.
Master Ferroda: (chuckles) Doubtful, although X1 is a favorite of Chancellor Palpatine as well.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Those elite clones and all your troops should be prepared. The council is concerned that there may be an attack on Coruscant itself in the coming weeks.
Master Ferroda: General Grievous might be bold enough to send his droid armies against Coruscant. If he does, we will be ready to defend the capital, Master Kenobi.Cutscene Script - Intro
[CUTSCENE STARTS]
X2 and X1 bow their heads.
Palpatine holds aloft a round gold medal hung from a crimson strap. He parts the strap in preparation to lay it round X2’s neck.
Suddenly, X1 clears his throat loudly, drawing Palpatine’s attention away from his brother.
Palpatine smiles a broad politician’s grin. X2 politely returns a faint nervous smile. He is not happy in this place.
Palpatine’s smile becomes fixed. He focuses intently upon X2.
...An alarm sounds. With bristling efficiency, Palpatine’s security begins to usher him away.
