Mission 4 is the fourth and final mission of Act I. The brothers have been sent to a Dantooine village to eliminate a Jedi fugitive. When X1 orders the destruction of the entire village, X2 abandons his former allies. He will serve Palpatine's Empire no longer.
Synopsis
After the Declaration of the New Order, X1 and X2 have made quite a name for themselves as Jedi hunters. X1 is proud of the recognition that they have received, but X2 is uneasy, something doesn’t feel right to him. Darth Vader deploys the clones to Dantooine, where a Jedi is said to be hiding amongst the Republic Loyalists.
On the planet’s surface, X1 gives the order to destroy the entire village. X2 protests and is relieved of duty. Rather than stand by and watch the village burn, X2 abandons ship to try and save the villagers. With his ties to the Empire officially broken and his relationship with X1 uncertain, he sets out to reach the village before the Empire can.
Now alone having turned his back on the New Order, X2 aids the villagers and the rag-tag band of militia they have formed to save the village from annihilation. X2 rallies men together in a squad, repairs and uses Republic tanks against the New Order and leads a daring defense of the village against overwhelming numbers and firepower. When Falon Grey comes to their aid, he suggests that the best course of action is to retreat to a transport ship secreted away in a hidden hangar. When they reach the hangar, X2 and Falon Grey are confronted by X1. X1 mortally wounds Grey and X2 before leaving them to rot. However, Grey manages to heal X2 with his dying breath. The future is uncertain.
Objectives
Mission Intro - Scripted Cutscene
As Darth Vader orders X1 and X2 to take Dantooine, X2's unsettled feelings about the orders they're now carrying out comes to a head while on Dantooine. X1 orders the clones to arrest X2 and so X2 jumps from a speeding gunship to escape arrest.
Head to the Village
X2 doesn’t have a plan for how to save the villagers, but he knows that he needs to warn them. He begins by heading for central village, hoping to reach it before his brother does. After falling from the LAAT Gunship, he landed into a small open area near some silos. A bridge and a barn can be seen ahead. X1 is on the radio, informing everyone you are now their enemy and must be killed on sight. As X2 approaches the bridge, a female villager runs towards him asking for help. She is shot at the back by two clones on the bridge, who afterwards start firing on X2. Once the bridge is cleared, he moves towards the barn, where he can hear cries for help.
Rescue the Villagers pinned down in the Barn
Clone Troopers have already landed in advance of X1 and X2's arrival and they are already executing the villagers as well as the members of the local militia. As X2 approaches the barn, he sees villagers running helplessly and getting shot at by clones. X2 is able to save some villagers who were inside a barn and begins organizing a makeshift army. The villagers accept him as one of their allies. At least one villager must survive for the objective to be completed.
Aid the Militia at the Town Hall
The Dantooine militia have been trained to regroup at the Town Hall in case of an attack and the New Order has already moved into the area. If X2 can get to the Town Hall and help the militia take it, they can rally more militiamen to their cause. The clones have set up their landing position near the waterfall. From there, an AT-TE is advancing slowly towards the Town Hall. The area between the Town Hall and the Village is patrolled by an AT-XR and an AT-RT. LAAT Gunships and V-Wing Bombers are strafing the open area, with capital ships bombarding it as well. Clone Troopers are moving in organized ranks. X2 helps clear the Town Hall of clones, with the help of villagers who use the foliage to hide. Over the radio, X1 threatens X2 and expresses his feelings of betrayal. More of the Dantooine militia rally around X2.
Destroy the AT-XR
An AT-XR is patrolling the area between the Town Hall and the Village. Taking it out would greatly improve the ability to traverse the terrain. Objective expires once X2 enters the village.
Capture an AT-RT
The patrolling AT-XR is being escorted by a pair of AT-RTs. Killing the pilot of one and capturing it would greatly improve his ability to help the militia and take out the other AT-RT and possibly the AT-XR. Objective expires once X2 enters the village.
Kill all the Snipers at the Town Hall
The Town Hall is covered in snipers. Eliminating them would help X2 and the militia to traverse the area. Objective expires once X2 enters the village.
Repair and use the Clone Hover Tank
X2 is shown to a Clone Tank the militia has managed to disable at the south side of the Town Hall. With X2's expensive knowledge of Republic combat units, its up to him to repair it and use it against the New Order. He picks up an ARC Cutter next to the tank and begins repairing it. Once complete, it begins to hover again and can be boarded.
Destroy the LAAT Gunships by the Waterfall
Now packing some serious firepower in the Clone Hover Tank, X2 must take out some of the heavier reinforcements that X1 is sending in. He must travel around the town hall along the river (using the Clone Hover Tank's hovering ability) and destroy the LAAT Gunships which have landed by the waterfall. Some of the troopers in the gunships are equipped with rocket launchers.
Destroy the AT-TE
Having destroyed the clones' staging area for reinforcements, it’s time to deal with the AT-TE. As it menacingly stomps around the area between the Village and the Town Hall, X2 must destroy it with his Clone Hover Tank. The Clone Hover Tank's agility is the key against the superior firepower of the AT-TE.
Get into the Village
Now that the area outside the village is cleared, X1 can be heard over the radio, furiously ordering the annihilation of the entire village. X2 must regroup with the militia inside the village and prepare for battle. The villagers open the door and allow X2 to pass. He can see villagers in defensive positions throughout the town square around the fountain and on the rooftops. The doors close behind him. Some villagers are seen in turrets and some others join his squad. The militia provides him various weapons and equipment.
Use the AA Gun to take out the Bombers
Now that X2 is safely inside the village, bombers and gunships of the New Order are strafing the area to make way for the main assault. X2's superior experience is once again called on to use the crude AA gun to take out the assault from above.
Defend the South Gate
A few seconds after the last flying ship is taken out, a scout on the walls of the village shouts down that he can see the New Order coming. He is later killed, falling off the ramparts. The South Gate doors blow open as X2 gets into position. Clone troopers come streaming in through the doors, with gunships landing outside the doors, spawning more of them. The battle for the village rages on – the clones have better technology, but the villagers are entrenched. After killing a certain number of New Order forces, the militia cry out that the New Order are about to break through the West Gate.
Defend the West Gate
The New Order are now assaulting the West Gate in an effort to outflank the defending Dantooine militia and X2. The villagers move from the town square to defensive positions around the West Gate. The West Gate doors blow open as X2 gets into position. Clone troopers come streaming in through the doors, this time with an AT-RT, and Skytroopers on the rooftops. After killing a certain number of New Order forces, the militia cry out that the New Order are about to break through the East Gate.
Defend the East Gate
After defending the West Gate, the Republic are now assaulting the final (East) Gate in a last ditch effort to outflank the defending Dantooine militia and X2. The villagers move from the west square to defensive positions around the East Gate. The East Gate doors blow open as X2 gets into position. Clone troopers come streaming in through the doors, this time with 2 AT-RTs, and Skytroopers on the rooftops. Clones drop into the village via Escape Pods. X2 and the militia are in a fortified area and have been able to push back the encroaching clones. There seems to be hope in beating back the New Order. After some time however, an AT-TE moves into position firing through the South Gate, 2 AT-XRs by the West Gate and an AT-XR moves to the East Gate. Clones now start pouring into the village as bombers and gunships begin to strafe the village too. The Militia calls to fall back and defend the Jedi Enclave. X1 contacts X2 over the radio, voicing his anger at his defiance.
Defend the Jedi Enclave

The attacks from above, the heavy weapons deployed at each gate and the swarms of clones make fighting in the open in the village impossible. X2 and the militia/villagers head to the relative safety of the Jedi Enclave. Additional waves of clone troopers attack and just when all seems lost, Falon Grey comes to their rescue and makes short work of the clone troopers.
Mission Intermission - Scripted Cutscene
Now that the Jedi, Falon Grey, has arrived, he has a short discussion with X2 regarding what is happening. Falon opens the doorway to the hidden Jedi caves and ushers X2 and the remaining militia to head to a secret transport ship he has in order to escape the invasion.
Escape to the Secret Hangar
The village is lost. Falon Grey suggests that the best course of action would be to retreat and regroup with the newly formed Rebellion. Fortunately, Grey has a transport ship hidden away in a hangar in the mountain behind the Enclave through the caves. There is still a chance to get all of the survivors to the ship and escape before the New Order realises what has happened. X2 and the villagers follow Grey through the crystal caves to secret hangar. There are scattered pockets of Clone Troopers in the caves which Grey will engage while X2 can choose to engage or simply run past them to the exit marker. It seems like victory is achievable.
Mission Outro - Scripted Cutscene
X1 arrives before Grey and X2 can escape. After a short battle, X1 kills X2 and Grey, leaving them for dead. With the last of his power, Grey heals X2, losing his life in the process.
Trivia
- The defense of the village is inspired by the Battle of the Alamo.
- The Dantooine villagers use Rebel weapons and their own type of sniper rifle.

Dantooine Villager: He appeared on Dantooine soon after Emperor Palpatine began hunting down the last of the Jedi. I was with my father when we saw him crossing the plains toward the ruins of the Jedi Temple. He quickly disappeared into the temple. A few weeks later we began to see him around the village. Many suspected he was a Jedi simply by the way he carried himself. There were few friends of the Empire in Dantooine but the Emperor's spies were everywhere. No one wanted to get close or know too much.
Dantooine Villager: Just before the harvest my father fell ill. There were rumors that the stranger was a Jedi and had been studying holocrons found deep within the ruins. When the stranger came to town I saw my mother take him aside and speak with him. The next morning he walked across our field. The Jedi came and sat by my father. He laid his hands on him and silently healed him. The Jedi got up and left looking exhausted. We had seen that he indeed was a Jedi and from then on would do whatever it took to protect his identity.
Cutscene Script - Intro
[CUTSCENE STARTS]
INT. STAR DESTROYER. HANGAR - DAY.
Icon.
A squad of Clone troopers stand to attention. At the end of the line, X1 and X2 stand tall, awaiting their orders.
DARTH VADER enters.
Vader strides along the line, stopping at the twins.
Vader strides away and the troops break up heading for the gunships. X1 stops X2 (who, throughout the briefing, was looking ill at ease and unhappy with the orders).
WIPE TO:
Take attack positions. We can clear the whole place out in a few minutes.
X2 interrupts.
We're here for one Jedi. The villagers are innocent people.
X1 faces him. He is unimpressed....who are harbouring a Jedi. It's a village of traitors. All of them. (beat, stern) Man a gun, or get off my ship.
X2 glares at him. A stalemate...
They stare in silence. X2 shakes his head slightly - he will not yield.
No, brother, this is wrong.
X1 is furious.
Enough is enough. Commander, relieve this clone from duty. I'll deal with him later. (beat, to Pilot) Continue your heading. Fire on my mark.
X2 glances down at the grasslands, whizzing underneath them. It's a long way down...
He looks further up the horizon. The ground slopes upwards into a hill...
The Clone Troopers around X2 raise their Blaster Rifles...
The hill gets closer...
The Commander takes a step towards X2...
X2 looks at X1...
I'll get off here.
With a sudden burst of movement, X2 smashes his blaster into the commander's chest, knocking him backwards into X1 and jumps from the gunship.
EXT. DANTOOINE. HILLSIDE - CONTINUOUS
X2 strikes the soil hard. But it's worth it - the gunship is slow to follow.
You TRAITOR!
Cutscene Script - Falon's Reveal
[CUTSCENE STARTS]
EXT. DANTOOINE. VILLAGE - DAY.
The Imperial forces are defeated. The villagers hang their shoulders in exhaustion and begin to tend to the injured.
Their homes burn around them.
X2 surveys the scene. Across the way, the shrouded figure of Falon Grey watches him, unyielding.
The Jedi begins to walk towards him. He points his lightsaber to X2.
Falon sheathes his lightsaber.
Falon Grey slowly pulls back his hood to reveal his face for the first time. X2 gasps. The Jedi's face, although many years older and marred by battle scars, is nigh-on identical to X2's own.
I knew that someone familiar to me was coming, but I did not know it would be my own son.
But...I am a clone...
X2 stares in disbelief. Falon does not break his gaze.
Many years ago...
FLASHBACK: EXT. SPACE - LATE EVENING.
...my Master and I made an emergency landing on the planet of Kamino...
Kamino falls into view.
The Kaminoans were not obliged to help us, but help us they did.
FLASHBACK: INT. KAMINO. SICK BAY - LATE EVENING.
Young Falon Grey lies in bed, connected to various tubes and feeds, as a group of Kaminoans tend to them. His Master looks on, concerned. A Kaminoan stands silently over the sleeping young Falon Grey. The camera TRACKS IN on the alien's emotionless face. With long slender fingers, the Kaminoan presses a microscopic needle under young Falon's cheekbone. It silently pricks his skin, and a single droplet of his blood is gently sucked into a long pale tube and out of sight.
The Kaminoans created the Clone Army. Gaining a Jedi sample must have been quite an opportunity.
EXT. DANTOOINE. VILLAGE - DAY
I'm a Jedi?
Falon Grey chuckles for a moment.
What makes a Jedi are things that cannot be cloned.
Falon kneels beside an INJURED VILLAGER. He closes his eyes, focusing the power of the Force. A warm glow radiates from his hands - the Villager sits up, healed. Falon puts him gently on the head. Falon turns and eyes X2 closely, studying him.
I felt both sides of the Force very strongly here - there is another. Let's hope it's not too late to guide him toward the path of light.
My brother, X1. He believes in the Empire. And I too have done horrible things.
The rise of the Empire has made us all question ourselves. (beat, guilty) I was once tasked with protecting the Jedi Order... if only I had known Palpatine would plot to deceive us. I failed them.
(Falon Grey looks out over the destruction.)
No one could have known.
(He places his hand on X2's shoulder.)
Like you, I have no army, no cause. Perhaps together we can find redemption. Come.
Cutscene Script - Outro
[CUTSCENE STARTS]
Three gunships land in the Secret Hangar, full of Clone Troopers. The camera is focused on the middle one, with three troopers, and X1, who also brought a Vibrolance, similar to the one that killed Master Ferroda. The troopers quickly eliminate the Villagers, and X1 aims carefully for X2. He pulls the trigger, the single bolt striking X2 in the stomach.
X2 falls to his knees, in obvious agony. The Villager next to him reacts in shock, a fatal mistake - he is shot by a Clone Trooper almost instantly afterwards.
X1 stares in disbelief at Falon Grey.
Falon Grey stands firm, his lightsaber humming. The Clone Troopers begin to surround him.
X1 glowers at him.
Teach me? I've had enough of your Jedi arrogance. (beat, to Troopers) FIRE!
The Clone troopers begin to pull their triggers, but before any of them can fire, Falon Grey sweeps his hand out in front of himself – focusing the Force. With a sound like a thunderclap, the Troopers are tossed backwards like paper dolls. Somehow, X1 remains on his feet. He draws his Vibrolance. He charges. X1 and Falon Grey lock blades. The duel is violent in the extreme. Falon Grey’s style is restrained, as he cautiously tries to subdue the marauding Clone. Finally, in a move of unrivalled grace, Falon Grey swivels and disarms X1, who finds himself kneeling, terrified at the end of the Jedi’s lightsaber.
You are beaten.
He reaches his hand out to X1, lightsaber in the other. X1 looks up at him, feigning a look of innocence. Falon is fooled just long enough...
All the Jedi...all the innocent people...no more blood needs to be spilled...
Quick as a flash, X1 snatches up his Vibrolance and smashes it into Falon Grey’s face – sending him in the position X1 was seconds prior. X1 attempts to forcibly take Falon Grey's lightsaber from his hand...
You should realise you only make peace after destroying your enemies completely.
...then kicks him down. He throws the Vibrolance to the ground, now wielding an even more powerful weapon.
(swinging lightsaber playfully)
It feels good to be a Jedi.
X1 walks over to stand in front of X2 (who is in serious pain), lightsaber glowing in one hand.
You betrayed the Empire. You betrayed me.
He turns away for a moment, looking down at the lightsaber and swinging it around playfully.
You know, I have no idea how to even wield one of these things...
Without warning, he slashes X2, a fatal blow.
...but I learn quickly.
Falon Grey can be seen crawling in the background.
Elegant, but not as effective as a blaster.
He draws his blaster pistol and shoots Falon Grey in the back. Falon Grey falls in a lifeless heap to the ground. X1 gestures to the Clone Troopers
Mission successful. Let's go.
Falon Grey crawls over to X2, and looks at his body, eyes barely open.
My...son...
With great strain and determination, Falon crawls his hand towards X2. He reaches him exhausted, and with his last ounce of energy he places his hands over X2’s wounds... His palms glow. The exertion is almost overwhelming, but he is healing him. X2 twiches and his chest begins to heave. Falon Grey's eyes lose focus, and he stares lifeless, his hands still resting on X2's chest. He is dead. X2 lies unconscious but barely alive.
