Mission 8 is the fourth and final mission of Act II. The decisive battle for the fate of the Rebel Alliance and the galaxy has begun. On Endor, X2 fights his way to the Shield Bunker alongside the Ewoks.
Synopsis
X2, equipped with a sniper rifle, has to liberate an Ewok village, which leads to the Ewoks helping with the assault on the shield generator bunker. However, on their way there, they are attacked by an AT-AT. With the threat eliminated, X2 uses a speeder bike to reach his X-wing and fly to the Death Star II. There, he helps Shara steal the Imperial plans. With the plans secured, he has little time to escape before the Death Star II is destroyed (the core having been destroyed). It is from here that X2 meets Luke Skywalker and learns the ways of the Jedi.
Objectives
Mission Intro - Scripted Event
The level starts with X2 being dropped off deep in the forest, with a small band of Rebel soldiers and snipers.
Rescue the Ewok Prisoners
X2 uses a sniper rifle and has to eliminate the Imperials that have taken over an Ewok village and frees the Ewoks held captive.
Eliminate the Snipers
The Ewok village is surrounded by snipers, they should be taken out to ensure safe passage. Objective expires after the first two main objectives.
Follow the Ewok Guide
One of the freed Ewoks guides X2 through Endor and to other areas where Ewoks are being held captive. On reaching the last area, the Ewoks have overpowered their captors and are celebrating next to an unused AT-ST.
Destroy the AT-ST heading for the Village
An AT-ST is moving towards the village. It should be destroyed in order to protect the Ewoks. Objective expires once the main objective is completed.
Reach the Shield Bunker
X2 rallies all his troops and helps out the Rebels who are taking heavy casualties near the shield bunker. He is able to use the captured AT-ST against Imperial infantry. Reaching the bunker, he sees it explode and Han Solo sprinting from the entrance (as seen in Episode VI).
Destroy the AT-AT Walker
The Imperials begin to tip the scales in their favour as they introduce an AT-AT. X2 grabs any heavy weaponry he can and sees off the danger amidst the fighting.
Eliminate the Imperial Reinforcements
An Imperial shuttle comes in to drop off reinforcements. It should be destroyed. Objective expires once the main objective is completed.
Get to a Speeder Bike and race to your X-Wing
With the ground mission completed, X2 needs to get up to the Death Star II and help Shara download the Imperial data. However he must first get to his X-Wing. Two Scout Troopers advance on him on their speeder bikes. After defeating one and seizing his speeder bike, he navigates the forest while fending off the Imperials on speeder bikes and trying not to fall. Getting out of the speeder bike will expose him to the snipers hidden in the trees.
Land on the Death Star II and secure the Hangar
A team of rebels, led by Shara, have landed on the Death Star II and are fighting for the control of the hangar. Shara calls for backup - X2 answers the call and dogfights his way into the hangar.
Support the Falcon
Lando can't get near Death Star II because he has too many TIE Fighters on his tail. Taking them out will earn you Lando's gratitude.
Escort Shara as she downloads Imperial data
Shara needs to steal the Imperial plans so they can gain the upper hand in any future battle. X2 follows her around the Death Star II and kills enemies as and when they appear.
Take out the trash
The components of X2's lightsaber.
Shara notices that there are Imperials in the trash compactor and informs X2 about it. The trash compactor activation happens via a nearby button.
Escape from the Death Star II
With the data secure, X2 and Shara must now escape the Death Star II. They rush to the hangar and escape in TIE Fighters.
Mission Outro - Scripted Cutscene
Everyone is celebrating the victory, yet Luke is uncertain for the future. He mentions that a New Republic will need new Jedi Knights to protect it. With a blue lightsaber crystal, he guides X2 towards creating his own lightsaber.
Trivia
- During the flight towards Death Star II, there was a secondary objective named 'Protect Ackbar's ship'. Destroying a Star Destroyer's main guns would complete it. It is not mentioned in the July 2008 story overview.

Darth Sidious: There is however one error that you must rectify. Your twin brother has continued to rise amongst the ranks of the Rebellion.
X1: He is my responsibility my Lord. I will seek him out and destroy him.
Darth Sidious: You have made the mistake of leaving one ember of the fire burning. Now you must extinguish it completely.Tyn Rul’Kai: I have received word that the Bothan Spynet has managed to secure the Death Star plans but not without heavy losses. I, Tyn Rul’Kai have been dispatched to the forest moon of Endor to track Imperial troop movements. I have sought out and made contact with the friendly indigenous Ewoks. Years of Bothan survival training have paid off as I have been able to share a few techniques for the Ewoks that were greatly appreciated. Ewok scouts have been helping me spy on the Imperial forces. The Imperials are defending a bunker, which I believe contains the deflector shield that protects the Death Star itself.
Tyn Rul’Kai: The Bothan Spynet has informed me that the Death Star plans have been handed off to the Rebel Alliance. I have relayed the coordinates of the Imperial bunker to the Rebels. I have informed the Ewoks that the Rebels will soon come to drive the Imperials from their homeworld. The Ewoks have pledged their support and are preparing for the coming conflict. The Ewoks have many gods but they have began a great ceremony in honor of a great tree spirit. The village medicine man has also been going on about a golden sun god that will soon arrive. Some sort of prophecy I assume.
Cutscene Script - Outro
[CUTSCENE STARTS]

EXT. EWOK VILLAGE WALKWAY. ENDOR – DAY.
The celebrations are already well underway. High above the music and the dancing, Luke Skywalker and X2 survey the scene.
Luke’s face is mirthless.
X2 turns to him, concerned.
Luke nods at X2, placing his hand on his shoulder. His intentions are clear. He produces a slim blue crystal from his pocket. As X2 stares at it, Luke levitates it above his palm. It shimmers in the evening light.
He guides X2 to hold the crystal in the air with the Force, and as X2 keeps it in place, other small metallic parts slowly begin to float up around it.
The last piece of the lightsaber clicks into place. Luke hands it to X2. X2 ignites the saber...
