- "This place has changed in my absence. There used to be a vending machine over there, we had a pool table down the hall, this great discofloor was wicked. Picked up some hotties over there."
- — Lando Calrissian
Mission 9 is the first mission of Act III. Bespin is still held by the Imperial Remnant. With the help of Lando, X2 liberates the planet.
Synopsis
Set just after the events of Return of the Jedi, Lando and X2, along with the other Rebels, plan to mop up the Imperials left on Bespin.
Objectives
Mission Intro - Scripted Cutscene
X2 and Lando are chatting. Shara walks over and is all gooey over X2’s Jedi-ness.
Get to Cloud City
X2 is on one of the Tibanna gas platforms surrounding Cloud City, with Lando explaining the situation. He gets in an X-wing with two of their Rebel comrades and makes for Cloud City. Minimal resistance is expected.
Take out the Star Destroyer
While heading towards Cloud City, a Star Destroyer de-cloaks right in his path. It is urgent it is destroyed before it destroys the Rebel forces. Shooting down a Tibanna gas platform sends it crashing into the command bridge of the Star Destroyer, causing it to explode.
Land on Cloud City
After taking out the Star Destroyer, X2 quickly heads to a landing pad to engage the Imperial threat.
Weaken the Imperial Air Turret Defenses
X2 must destroy four turrets. Objective expires when main objective is completed.
Weaken the Imperial Airborne Defenses
X2 must destroy five TIE Fighters. Objective expires when main objective is completed.
Clear the Main Square
Immediately after landing, X2 is in the midst of a battlefront between the Rebels and the Imperials. Now a Jedi, he dashes forward and cuts through swathes of Imperials.
Liberate Lobot
After clearing the main square, X2 heads into the bowels of Cloud City in order to free Lobot. He passes through the carbon freezing chamber and the incinerator, until he finds and destroys the door controls to Lobot's cell.
Escort Lobot to the Central Computer
Upon freeing Lobot from his cell, he follows X2, moving towards the computer room.
Defend Lobot
Now inside the computer room, X2 keeps the hordes of Stormtroopers at bay whilst Lobot does his thing.
Eliminate the remaining Imperial forces
Lobot has hacked into Cloud City’s computer and regained control, reinstating Lando as Baron Administrator and allowing more Rebels to join the fight.
Eliminate the Dark Troopers
Having mopped up the remaining resistance, the Imperials make a final push by sending in their elite Dark Troopers. They have jetpacked into the main square. X2 heads out of the computer room and slices them down.
Outro - Scripted Event
After killing the final Dark Trooper, X2 has a dialogue exchange with Lando setting up their motivations for heading to Dathomir.
Trivia
- In the March 2009 build of the PSP version, Act III is named "The Lurking Doom". However the original name is used in the released version.
- In the Act III title crawl, the first paragraph was originally: "Without the Dark Lords of the Sith to command it, the Empire has splintered into numerous pieces, each scrambling for supremacy in their endless war against the Rebel Alliance."
- In 2007, the third paragraph of the Act III title crawl was: "Having heard reports that the Cloud City of Bespin has once again fallen into the Empire’s hands, Jedi Knight X2 and General Lando Calrissian journey to the planet to reclaim it…". However, this was changed, as Cloud City was never liberated until after the Battle of Endor.
- This mission is absent from the DS version.

Audio Logs
Mon Mothma: This is a transmission to the resistance leaders of Cloud City. Rest assured the New Republic has not forgotten about you. We are aware that Imperial forces still occupy the city and are making preparations to free you from Imperial tyranny once and for all. Our recent victory at the Battle of Endor has destroyed the second Death Star and the Emperor. However the forces of the remnant Empire are regrouping. The Imperial occupation of Cloud City provides them with a base of operations that is a formidable threat to the Alliance.
X1: Greetings Meng Lha. It’s unusual to see a Kaminoan in this part of the galaxy, or any part of the galaxy really.
Meng Lha: I am no longer welcome among my people.
X1: Well your cloning skills are certainly welcome here. I understand you were banished from Kamino for your alternative cloning methods.
Meng Lha: The Prime Minister on Kamino felt my methods were controversial. There were some unfortunate side effects.
X1: I have established cloning facilities across the galaxy for you to continue your work.
Meng Lha: Cloning outside of our labs on Kamino is a trial and error process. There are often painful complications.
X1: Use whatever methods you wish, I’m only concerned with the results. I need you to travel to the Dathomir system, I’ve identified potential subjects for our first experiments.
Captain Sorel: My Lord, you have returned.
X1: Mobilize my forces, have them ready by nightfall.
Captain Sorel: Yes my Lord, we have been awaiting your arrival. You have acquired a lightsaber.
X1: After I dispatched the Republic forces attempting to take Bast Castle, I began studying Darth Vader’s personal archives. There I learned the ancient ways of the Sith Lords.
Captain Sorel: Nothing can stop our armies now, my Lord.
X1: In order to defeat the Alliance we will need more than conventional forces. On Vjun I had a vision of the future. I will now implement plans to make that vision a reality.Cutscene Script - Intro
